Our graduates leave prepared. Guaranteed.

At Lake Washington Technical College, we guarantee our graduates have the job skills necessary to start a career in the technical field for which they’ve trained. So if any employer deems a graduate as lacking in any of the skills identified as program competencies, we’ll provide up to fifteen tuition-free credit hours of additional training free.*

*Guarantee applies to students earning an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree, a Certificate of Proficiency or a Certificate of Completion awarded in December 1999 or thereafter.

For complete details on our Graduate Guarantee, please contact Student Services at Lake Washington Technical College, (425) 739-8102.

Employers interested in recruiting graduates with the guaranteed skills to succeed, contact the Coordinator of the Employment Resource Center at (425) 739-8315 or visit our recruiting Web site (opens new window).

Conditions which apply to this guarantee are:

  1. The graduate must have earned the Associate of Applied Science degree, the Certificate of Proficiency or Certificate of Completion from Lake Washington Technical College beginning December 1999 or thereafter and must have completed the graduation requirements within a five-year span.

  2. Within 12 months of graduation, the graduate must be employed full time in an area directly related to the program concentration area.

  3. The employer must certify in writing that the employee is lacking entry-level skills identified by the college as the exit-level program competencies and must specify the areas of deficiency within 90 days of the graduate's initial employment.

  4. The employer, graduate, dean, counselor and appropriate faculty member will develop a written educational plan for retraining. Retraining will be limited to 15 credit hours related to the identified skill deficiency and to those classes regularly scheduled during the period covered by the retraining plan.

  5. All retraining must be completed within a calendar year from the time the educational plan is approved.

  6. The graduate and/or employer is responsible for the cost of books, insurance, uniforms, fees and other course-related expenses.

  7. The guarantee does not imply the graduate will pass any licensing or qualifying examination for a particular career.

  8. The students' sole option through Lake Washington Technical College to remedy skill deficiencies shall be limited to 15 credit hours of tuition-free course work under conditions described above.

  9. Activation of the "Graduate Guarantee Program" may be initiated by the graduate through contact with the Registrar within 90 days of the graduate's initial employment.
