There are many ways to be involved in campus life. One way is to be a campus leader. Being connected to a campus club is a great way to meet new people, create exciting campus opportunities, and learn great leadership skills. If you don’t see a club or activity that represents your interests stop by Student Programs or send us an email. Activity is one step away!

If you do not see a current campus club you would like to join, you may start your own. It is very easy. Student Programs is here is to help.

All information and forms are located in the “How to Start a Club” worksheet. (Requires a PDF reader)

The steps are explained here.

  1. Talk to a faculty or staff member and ask them if they would like be an adviser for your organization.  Along with Student Programs, your adviser serves as the connecting link between your efforts and college administration. Your adviser can help you understand how to make your group successful. Clubs may have more than one advisor. Please talk with Student Programs about specifics. All advisers sign an agreement, found in “How to Start a Club”.
  2. Get other students involved! Have at least six (6) interested students, including yourself. Clubs are more successful when others are involved and interested in accomplishing goals similar to yours.
  3. Develop a club constitution. A constitution officially states your club’s purpose and rules of operation. It outlines the purpose of the club and helps set up leadership roles within the group.
  4. Send an email to the Manager of Student Programs, or stop by to make an appointment. Your application will be reviewed and questions will be answered.
  5. The Manager of Student Programs will submit your application packet to the ASG Executive Board and Senate for review. A club member should attend the E-Board or Senate meetings where their application is discussed to answer any questions. Once approved by the Senate the group will become an officially chartered club.
  6. Hold your club’s first official meeting and elect officers. Notify the Student Programs office of officer names and contact information. The E214 meeting room is available for your meetings. Send in a request form to reserve the room.

Student Programs will help you learn more about club leadership, including membership growth and treasurer’s duties. Set up a meeting today to talk about all that is possible for your club!
