Do you have a refund coming?
If you withdraw early in the quarter, you might receive a full or partial refund.
- A refund will occur only when you officially withdraw within the refund period (see the academic calendar in the Current Students section for dates) by completing an Add/Drop form (PDF file, requires a PDF reader).
- Not attending a class does not make you eligible for a refund. Students will forfeit all claims to refund of tuition and fees if they fail to withdraw from a course or are suspended or terminated for misconduct. For a first-time, federally funded student, the refund will be calculated on a prorated basis consistent with applicable federal rules.
- Refunds cannot normally be arranged by telephone.
- Refunds are distributed "in kind." If you pay with a credit card, the refund will be credited to that credit card account; if you pay by cash or check, the refund check will be mailed to you. Refunds of less than $5 will not be mailed. Please allow up to six weeks for processing. Refunds for students receiving financial aid will be refunded to the financial aid program or agency.
Cancellation of a course
In all cases, cancellation of a course--100%
Refund Policy for State-Supported Credit Courses
- 100% through first 5 instructional days.
- 50% after fifth instructional day through tenth instructional day.
- 40% after after 10th instructional day and through 20th calendar day or immediately preceding workday if 20th day falls on weekend or holiday.
Refunds for state-supported courses that start after the regular quarter begins or short courses that begin any time during the quarter shall be made in proportion to the tuition and fee refund percentages above.
However, the college will use the start date of the student's longest course during the regular quarter when calculating refunds upon the student's withdrawal from all courses. The ratio depends on the total number of class sessions and the number of sessions already held.
Refund policy for Non-Credit (Self-Supported) Courses
- Class meets two or more times - refund request must be received by registration prior to second class meeting.
- Class meets just once - refund request must be received prior to class meeting.
Petitions for exceptions
The college considers extenuating circumstances for exceptions to the refund policy. The key reasons an exception might be made are:
- Being called to active US military duty
- Documented medical problems of self or a dependent
